A short post redirecting to a longer post at The Traditional Cycle Shop in Stratford-upon-Avon. I got (another) new bicycle, a Moulton from this shop, and they asked me to write a blog post for their blog. The Moulton is a steel bike with an … Continue reading Moulton

After cycling together across the country we decided to take things even further and hired a tandem from Cycle Hub. Neither of us had ever ridden a tandem before so it was a bit of an adventure! Our ride started with an explanation of the … Continue reading It takes two baby!
Velo Retro, Ulverston
This past weekend we rode the Velo Retro sportive out of Ulverston, in Cumbria in the Lake District. We came up on Friday for the Sunday ride and stayed in the Bay Horse Hotel—highly recommended for its beautiful view across Morecambe Bay. It was about … Continue reading Velo Retro, Ulverston
A quick note from Canal Foot
We arrived earlier today in Ulverston, the Lake District, for Velo Retro which takes place across the weekend. We’ll be riding out on Sunday, though we met a remarkably ambitious woman who is leaving at 3 in the morning as she’s riding The Mighty Corinthian tomorrow. This ride is 300 kilometres or about 190 miles! The weather tomorrow is predicted to be heavy rain or, at times, light rain. Our thoughts are with her.
Our plans are more modest and start with a sleep-in and late breakfast! We’re staying at The Bay Horse in Canal Foot, where the short canal from Ulverston meets Morecambe Bay. So today, we’ve had a pleasant and easy 2 mile ride along the canal into Ulverston, dinner and a good ride back. Tomorrow we plan to potter around a bit more before the ride on Sunday. We riding Le Loafeur, 47 kilometres around Coniston Water with a food stop at the far end. Should be a good ride…if the rain keeps off.
