A quick note from Canal Foot

20170714_140745We arrived earlier today in Ulverston, the Lake District, for Velo Retro which takes place across the weekend. We’ll be riding out on Sunday, though we met a remarkably ambitious woman who is leaving at 3 in the morning as she’s riding The Mighty Corinthian tomorrow. This ride is 300 kilometres or about 190 miles! The weather tomorrow is predicted to be heavy rain or, at times, light rain. Our thoughts are with her.

Our plans are more modest and start with a sleep-in and late breakfast! We’re staying at The Bay Horse in Canal Foot, where the short canal from Ulverston meets Morecambe Bay. So today, we’ve had a pleasant and easy 2 mile ride along the canal into Ulverston, dinner and a good ride back. Tomorrow we plan to potter around a bit more before the ride on Sunday. We riding Le Loafeur, 47 kilometres around Coniston Water with a food stop at the far end. Should be a good ride…if the rain keeps off.
